
Seaburn is an area and a seaside resort in Sunderland, it is bordered by Whitburn to the north, Fulwell to the west and south west and to the south is another seaside resort of Roker. Seaburn is mainly made up of sparsely populated residential areas, most of this was erected in the mid 20th century.
The seafront is sandy and used to be a blue flag resort, it has promenades, an amusement park, a four star Marriot hotel (Which used to be called the swallow hotel), many guest houses, fish and chip shops, and a children’s playground as well as numerous other shops. Sea road is the major shopping road running from the sea front to the Seaburn Metro station.
The funfair went through a massive re-development in the 1980’s to include a supermarket, amusement park and leisure centre. The artist L.S Lowry was a frequent visitor to the resort. Seaburn also hosts the Sunderland International Air show as well as Roker, it is the biggest free event of its type in Europe, it displays a huge variety of military and civilian aircrafts.
Seaburn also has its own station and on Sunderland county council Seaburn is part of Fulwell and has three conservative representatives on the council.
