Castletown is a part of Sunderland, located in Tyne and Wear. It can be found just north of the River Wear and is also close to Hylton Castle as well as Washington. Close to the region a huge renovation project is going ahead, whereby old dilapidated houses are being demolished to make way for luxury modern houses, however this project has met with some fierce resistance from the local community and the people that rent and own these houses. This is causing delays and major problems for Sunderland Council.
Fulford Grange is located at the other end of Castletown and is popularly known as “Corned Beef City” and is also thought of as being the posh part of the area. The majority of the houses are semi detached and in superb condition due to the fact that they are quite young. Fulford itself has produced some very popular footballers including Michael Gray and Kieron Brady both who played for Sunderland FC.
